Subject: Monthly Subjective Report

I’m scared about my arrival in the San Francisco later this month. My mother has packed all of my belongings for me and then some and I just returned from the testing center. The nurse was sad because it was my last visit. She joked that she would keep a vial of my blood and I told her I would still email her photos like the ones I plan to send to family and friends. My boyfriend is more depressed than usual. In the end, we decided to stay together and see where it would go. He and I are planning to save money for AR phones. I hope there will be enough left of my university stipend to buy one soon! Could we try and see how much they are when I get there?

About my general health - I have been so excited and nervous that I haven’t been able to eat all of our usual community  rations. I also accidentally skipped a day of the supplemental drink yesterday. The nurse says I’m in good health and that seems true. Since a few months ago when you and Dr. Izuki found a cleaner pool for me to swim in, I have been feeling much better! There is a kid at that pool with webbed toes who always races a few sets with me. She is so nice and lively - I hope she also gets selected for the Genetic Diversity Program!

Lexa, thank you for planning to pick me up at the airport. I really look forward to meeting you and am thankful that we have been penpals this past year.

Best,

Jennami

Hello Jenn!

It is absolutely normal to feel that apprehensive before a big life change! When I pick you up, we can drop by the connections district (CoDi) and look around at what you might want. I spoke to my team at the Department of Computational Genetics and we can order one for you from Google, so you don’t need to worry too much about that. We can also try to get one for your mother once you are settled in. Unfortunately, that won’t extend to your boyfriend but I hope this small thing can help you adjust well.

If you don’t mind, I also got Dr. Cory Smith, my long-time friend and colleague, approved to join me when we pick you up. We want to give you a warm welcome to the city as I know it will be an enormous change from Tokyo. We are looking forward to meeting you.

We are going through all the appropriate government channels to have your social data transferred to our research center. Please be on the lookout to sign the approval documents.

See you soon!

Lexa
